Henry Higuera's lecture "The Moral and Political Foundations of Modern Science" & Hooker's description of a Puritan from Voegelin's book.
I am referencing these two documents in my upcoming essay “Liberalism” for MCC.
In that essay I try to explain what kinds of person the Enlightenment philosophy was designed to combat. The Baconian offshoot is a prong in that attack, and Higuera provides a good introduction to seeing that Enlightenment morality is behind modern natural science.
